USAA is linking up with Roost’s home telematics program for property insurance carriers. Provided in partnership with Willis Towers Watson, the home telematics program uses advanced analytics to reveal meaningful insights regarding the effect of home telematics on loss mitigation and member engagement.

Roel Peeters, Roost’s CEO, said the home telematics program offers an industry group of between five to 10 carriers an “accelerated way to gain improved insight into home telematics and the related data.”

The program helps carriers learn best practices for policyholder outreach and deployment of smart home devices, which are low-cost, easy to install and work with existing Wi-Fi, Peeters said in prepared remarks.

USAA will offer select members a kit made up of the Roost Smart Sensors to be installed at home, which alert homeowners via the Roost mobile app about water or fire damage. Additionally, USAA members can use the Roost mobile app to manage the smart sensors.
