Great Leaders Dive Right Into Turbulence, With a Plan and Clear Goals

February 27, 2019

Great leaders never run from turbulence. Instead, they dive right into it, with a goal of improving the situation.

That’s the conclusion forwarded in a recent Leadership Freak blog posting by leadership expert Dan Rockwell. In it, he argues that a leader who dives into the chaos of an organization can make things better for everyone involved. Great leaders, he said, never “run like a chicken from difficulty.”

The leader who dives into the turbulence is a “servant leader,” according to the blog posting, and “servant leaders notice how stormy seas impact the crew.”

True leaders steer their organization through chaos because they have an underlying goal of helping others, stand for something and have a point of view regarding what the chaotic organization needs to become, the blog posting asserts.
