Arch Insurance in North America hired a former Travelers executive to lead a newly created business unit. Great American Insurance Group named a new executive as divisional vice president of its Environmental Division. Lloyd’s of London appointed a former U.S. senator to join the body that supervises the Lloyd’s market.

A former Travelers executive is joining Arch Insurance North America to lead a newly created business unit.
Eric Boquist is the company’s new executive vice president, Retail Energy, and he is based in Houston, Texas.
Boquist will lead the newly created business unit focused on providing comprehensive admitted middle-market products and services to energy companies in North America. The team will also bring together additional Arch specialty products to meet the needs of energy clients and brokers. This unit will complement Arch’s current energy offerings underwritten in the U.S., Bermuda and London. Boquist will report to Rich Stock, chief underwriting officer of Large Account Casualty and Surety.
Boquist was previously at Travelers, where he most recently served as president of Travelers’ Oil & Gas unit in Houston. Before Travelers, he held a number of senior insurance roles focused on the energy sector in the U.S. and European markets.

Great American Insurance Group hired Rick Ringenwald as divisional vice president of its Environmental Division. In this role, Ringenwald will serve as a member of the Executive Underwriting team where he will work with and support the overall strategic business of the division.
Previously, Ringenwald was with Willis Tower Watson, where he served as executive vice president and regional team leader in its Environmental Practice Group.

Lloyd’s appointed former United States Senator John E. Sununu as a new member of its Council for a three-year term, beginning Feb. 6, 2019.
The Council of Lloyd’s is the body that supervises the London-based Lloyd’s Market. While Sununu is American, half of Lloyd’s global premiums are from the U.S. and Canada, it noted.
Sununu’s appointment to the Council is designed to ensure Lloyd’s has U.S. political and regulatory experience to draw from and to help it tap into new digital opportunities.
During his tenure in the Senate as a Republican senator of New Hampshire, Sununu served on the Senate Banking Committee, where he actively prioritized insurance issues, and the Senate’s subcommittee on Science, Technology and Innovation.
He is now a senior policy adviser for Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, an international law firm headquartered in Washington, and holds office as a non-executive director for the publicly traded companies Boston Scientific Corporation and Afiniti Inc. He holds engineering degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned his master of business degree from Harvard University.
