Startup Slice Labs is bringing on a chief growth officer. AXIS Capital Holdings Ltd. appointed a former Partner Re executive to a newly created executive position. An ex-Swiss Re executive is joining Sompo International Holdings as a cyber product executive focused on U.S. professional liability insurance.

Slice Labs Inc. hired Philippe Lafreniere as chief growth officer.
Lafreniere brings over 25 years of global insurance technology experience to the role. In his new position, he will work with carriers globally to partner on the development of realistic plans for creating new digital insurance 
products serving business and consumer end-customers. He will also infuse product development and marketing strategies with insight into customer and broader industry discussions to help refine the startup’s Insurance Cloud Services.
Slice Labs, a New York-based startup, developed on-demand, pay-per-use insurance for homeshare companies and others and began earlier this year to license its cloud-based platform overseas.
Lafreniere has experience in product management, product marketing and sales for various global, industry-leading technology companies. Before joining Slice, he served as senior vice president of Product Marketing at EIS Group, where he was responsible for helping insurers transform into agile, digital enterprises. Prior to that, Lafreniere served as vice president of Product Innovation at iter8, as well as director of Product Marketing and Management at Camilion Solutions, where he helped scale the company before its acquisition to SAP in 2013.

AXIS Capital Holdings Limited appointed Marcus Pollak to the newly created role of head of Product Center for AXIS Re.
Based in Zurich, Pollak will lead underwriting process and portfolio management activities for AXIS Re and will report to Megan Thomas, chief underwriting officer, AXIS Re.
Thomas, in prepared remarks, said that Pollak’s newly created role “is an important step toward establishing a modern and sophisticated approach to underwriting and portfolio management.”
Pollak joins AXIS Re from Partner Re, where he spent 17 years and was most recently head of Analysis and Reporting. He also served on the company’s senior management team. Prior to that, Pollak was the chief operating officer for Specialty Lines and the head of Credit and Surety.

Sompo International Holdings Ltd. hired Richard DePiero as senior vice president, U.S. Cyber Product Leader for its U.S. professional liability insurance unit.
DePiero brings more than a decade of cyber underwriting and broking experience to Sompo International, where he 
will be responsible for Sompo Pro’s U.S. cyber and network security offerings. He reports to Daniel Wadley, executive vice president, Sompo Pro and will work closely with Brad Gow, Global Cyber Product leader at Sompo International, to further develop Sompo’s cyber products and services. DePiero is based in the company’s New York City office.
DePiero joined the company from Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, where he served as senior vice president, head of Cyber & Technology E&O Underwriting, North America, responsible for developing their cyber and professional liability strategy. Before Swiss Re, DePiero was senior vice president and Cyber & Technology Practice leader for Marsh USA Inc. He started his career in claims and distribution at Electric Insurance Company, a G.E. subsidiary.
