Beazley, a specialist in data breach response insurance, will coordinate the breach response for policyholders, including IT experts, legal services, identity monitoring, notification and call center services, and public relations.

The partnership allows Generali, through Generali Global Corporate & Commercial Brazil, to offer the Brazilian market a comprehensive cyber liability and data breach response product, said Beazley in a statement.

Beazley said it has helped clients handle more than 6,500 data breaches since the launch of its flagship product, Beazley Breach Response, in 2009.

A new RMS product is designed to help underwriters access critical information about any global location in a matter of seconds in order to gain a competitive advantage in risk assessment.

The RMS Location Intelligence API, or application programming interface, will link insurers’ underwriting systems with what RMS said is the most sophisticated hazard, exposure and loss data derived from its modeling efforts.

Current data will be available for the product involving U.S. hurricane/loss costs and risk scoring; U.S. earthquake loss costs and scoring; and European flood (13 countries)/hazard data, with expansions planned later this year. Eventually, RMS plans to offer the service across more than 190 models, reflecting the principal perils in key markets.

RMS said the product gives underwriters a major change in their ability to understand risk at a particular site, and select and price accordingly. This can involve seismic risks, slope, soil, flood zone or building attributes, it said.

By having this tool, insurers can avoid or cede risks that don’t meet their risk appetite and expand into new territories more confidently in a way that optimizes their book of business, RMS said.
