Executives On The Move at XL Catlin, JLT Re and Everest Re

XL Catlin promoted an executive on its E&S team. JLT Re named a new partner for its Bermuda operation. Everest Re Group hired a former Hiscox executive to be its vice president and head of the Reinsurance Division’s International Casualty Facultative unit.

XL Catlin’s excess and surplus (E&S) insurance team promoted Caitlin Murphy from senior underwriter to the role of eastern regional vice president of E&S Property.

The new job requires Murphy to direct regional underwriting operations and product and business development from XL Catlin’s Boston, Mass., office.

Murphy brings nearly ten years of underwriting and broker experience to her new role. In the past five years, she focused on addressing clients’ shared and layered property insurance programs. She has been responsible for developing new business growth on the east coast with a primary focus in the New York region and Atlanta.

Before XL Catlin, Murphy managed and placed complex risk management accounts at both Marsh & McLennan and Aon, where she gained a background in brokerage.

JLT Re has appointed Deanna Williams as a partner in JLT Re’s Bermuda operation.

Williams will report to Charles Withers-Clarke, partner, JLT Re in Bermuda, who said that Williams will focus on specialty lines, “working closely with myself and our teams in London.”

Previously Williams was at Chubb (ACE) Tempest Re where she was a vice president underwriter, focused on international property catastrophe XL. Prior to that she held key roles at Ace Tempest Re, XL Reinsurance and XL Capital.

Everest Re Group hired a former Hiscox executive to be its vice president and head of the Reinsurance Division’s International Casualty Facultative unit.

Matthew Kelly will be responsible for worldwide Casualty facultative underwriting, excluding business written for U.S. and Canada clients.

Most recently, Kelly was regional head of Casualty and Specialty Casualty with Hiscox. He also has headed up the Casualty and Specialty Casualty underwriting practice for carriers in Latin America and the Caribbean, and Kelly is also a 20-year insurance industry veteran.
