Retail Group Revs Up Lobbying Push for National Flood Insurance Program Renewal

May 16, 2017

A major real estate association plans a multi-day lobbying blitz in Washington D.C. this week to focus, in part, on the need for renewal of the National Flood Insurance Program before it expires on Sept. 30.

The National Association of Realtors said that, as part of a D.C. meeting running from May 16-20, members will visit U.S. House and Senate offices to urge Congress to pass a multiyear reauthorization of the national Flood Insurance Program before its expiration.

Attendees (nearly 9,000 are expected) will also participate in a number of on-site visits with regulatory agency staff at the Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Department of Treasury and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The group said it will also focus on issues such as tax reform and sustainable home ownership.
