Executives On The Move at XL Catlin, Beazley, RLI and Erie Insurance

XL Catlin hired three executives to beef up expanded M&A insurance operations for global transactional risks. An executive joins Beazley to fill the newly created role of financial lines regional manager for continental Europe. A retired former CEO of QBE North America is joining the RLI Corp. board of directors. Erie Insurance promoted someone from within to be its latest senior vice president, Personal Products.

XL Catlin has hired three new executives to help service an expanded suite of mergers & acquisitions (M&A) insurance products aimed at supporting deals in the global transactional risk market.

• Richard Winborn joins as head of M&A Insurance, International, and he’ll be based in London. Winborn will be tasked with managing XL Catlin’s M&A portfolio in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. Most recently, he was head of Specialty products at Liberty Specialty Markets. He has also been Head of M&A Insurance for Zurich Insurance Plc in the UK.

• Hilary Weiss, previously an M&A insurance specialist at AIG, is now underwriter, M&A, Americas for XL Catlin. She’ll be based in New York.

• Reagan Tangney plans to join XL Catlin on May 8 as underwriter, M&A Americas, based in New York. Most recently, she was an Equity Research Associate at CLSA and has held a number of research roles in Private Equity with KKR.

Beazley appointed Lorena Segovia to the newly created role of financial lines regional manager for continental Europe.

Segovia will be based in the specialist insurer’s new Barcelona office and handle development of Beazley’s specialty lines business across the continent.

Segovia was most recently at HCC Global, where she was financial lines underwriting manager for southern Europe going back to 2010. She previously helped launch HCC’s transaction risk insurance business, focusing on the provision of warranties and indemnities insurance for continental European deals.

Before joining HCC in 2003, she worked for Arthur Andersen and for Cuatrecasas, a large Spanish law firm.

David Duclos, a retired former CEO of QBE North America, has been elected to the board of directors of RLI Corp.

Duclos will take on the new role on May 4, at the next shareholders meeting, to fill a term expiring at that point.

The specialty insurer noted that Duclos also serves as an advisor and non-executive director for QBE Group. He has 38 years of insurance industry experience, and has held leadership positions at XL Group, Kemper Insurance Company and CIGNA Corp.

Erie Insurance appointed Cody Cook as senior vice president, Personal Products.

Cook has been with Erie since 2003, when he started in the insurer’s actuarial division. In 2009, he was promoted to supervisor of the Pricing and Modeling section.

For the last seven years, he has served as the private passenger auto vide president and product manager.
