Targeting Millennials, Allstate Offers $2 On-Demand Road Rescues for Turkey Day

November 20, 2016

On Nov. 23—the day before Thanksgiving—Allstate announced that it is offering $2 roadside rescues for 1,000 stranded motorists experiencing common roadside emergencies, such as flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and running out of gas.

According to last week’s announcement about the promotion for on-demand roadside service available via the “Good Hands Rescue” app or mobile website, you don’t have to be an Allstate customer to use the app. Nor do you have to be a millennial. But millennials are clearly a group that Allstate is targeting since the media statement is singularly focused on the driving habits of the younger group of customers.

Allstate announced the promotion together with results of the Allstate Roadside IQ Survey, conducted in September, which revealed that more than half of millennials planning to drive two hours or more to their Thanksgiving destination this year, among other things.

Pam Dufour, Allstate Roadside Services president, said, ” It’s a great way to give younger drivers and others the convenience that comes with a mobile app.”

According to another Allstate survey, the Roadside Assistance Segmentation Survey conducted in May 2016, half of all millennials have had a roadside incident within the last year, yet 75 percent have never changed a tire on their current vehicle.

Other findings of the Allstate surveys, include these facts about millennials:

“Good Hands Rescue takes away the guesswork of who to contact,” Allstate suggests. On-demand features include:

As for this week’s promotion, the $2 pricing is available only for first 1,000 requests on 11/23 from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. CT made from m.goodhandsrescue.com or the Good Hands Rescue app in the United States. Other limitations of the promotion include the fact that it is only available for standard vehicles (no commercial, RV, extra weight); towing is limited to five miles (additional miles priced at $4.25 per mile); fuel costs extra.
