AIG is hiring another JP Morgan Chase & Co. information technology executive in a major leadership role.

Hugh Tamassia is set to become AIG’s new chief enterprise architect, effective Oct. 3. AIG is in the midst of a massive reorganization, and Tamassia is coming on board with a mandate to design an enterprise architecture that will drive AIG’s IT priorities and strategic plan. He’ll report to Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer Philip Fasano. At JPMorgan Chase, he was most recently the bank’s chief technology officer for Consumer and Community Banking Servicing Technology.

In June, AIG hired Michael Lewis as its chief technology officer. Lewis was previously JP Morgan Chase’s global chief technology officer, digital, for the bank’s consumer business.

Fasano said that Tamassia will help AIG develop a more uniform system to propel the insurer forward in a number of ways.

“Modernizing AIG’s technology infrastructure by establishing consistent architecture across the company will advance our employees’ capabilities to serve customers and represent progress toward becoming a leaner, more profitable and focused insurer,” Fasano said in prepared remarks.

Tamassia had worked in various senior technology roles at JPMorgan Chase for 13 years. Beyond his most recent role, he helped establish the strategic plan for and the managed the restructuring process that helped build Operations Technology, one of the largest business-facing technology and delivery organizations within Consumer and Community Banking Technology.

AIG, after shareholder pressure, is in the midst of a strategic revamp and reorganization designed to boost financial results, increase strategic flexibility, shed nonstrategic assets and return at least $25 billion of capital to shareholders over two years.
