USAA Tops Consumer Loyalty Business List

Loyalty concept.USAA tops a new list in terms of consumer loyalty, and is the sole property/casualty insurer to score in the top 20.

USAA, an auto insurer and financial services company for members of the U.S. military and their families, landed in the top spot on the Temkin Loyalty Index, along with the grocery stores H-E-B, Publix and Trader Joes.

The Temkin Loyalty Index comes out annually from the Temkin Group, a customer experience research and consulting firm. Temkin compiles the list based on its evaluation of the loyalty of 10,000 U.S. consumers to 293 companies across 20 industries.

USAA scored 74 percent, and first on the Temkin Loyalty Index as far as its credit card business; 71 percent, or fifth place, for insurance; and 70 percent, or seventh on the list, based on its banking operations. In doing so, USAA surpassed H-E-B (73 percent), Publix (72 percent) and Trader Joe’s (72 percent).

USAA was higher overall than Amazon.com, which earned a 69 percent ranking for its sales of computers and overall retail operations, both of which came in 11th place.

In contrast, the health insurer Blue Shield of California earned just a 47 percent customer loyalty rating, bringing it in at No. 272 on the list.
