Farmers Reports Steep Price Tag For Late June Storm Damage Claims

Farmers Insurance LogoFarmers Insurance said it expects to receive nearly 7,000 claims from hail, strong wind and other severe weather events that hit 14 states in late June.

The price tag won’t be cheap. Farmers said it expects damage-related claims from the combined storms to surpass $55 million.

So far, Farmers said it has received more than 3,500 claims from across the affected states: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Farmers said it has been working to coordinate claims responses for customers.

At the end of May, Farmers became the first large California insurer to start offering a ridesharing insurance product. The new endorsement is designed for drivers participating in any ridesharing companies including Uber, Lyft and Sidecar.
