Conan Ward Heading U.S. Ops for Hamilton Insurance Group

Hamilton Insurance Group, Ltd., the holding company for Bermuda-based Class 4 property/casualty reinsurer Hamilton Re, announced Tuesday that Conan M. Ward has been hired to head the group’s U.S. operations.

Ward, 46, brings more than 20 years’ insurance and reinsurance experience to his new position with Hamilton Insurance Group.

Prior to establishing a consulting firm in 2012, he spent 11 years in Bermuda, most recently as chief executive officer at Validus Reinsurance Ltd. He held the position of chief underwriting officer of Validus Re from its founding until 2009, building and managing a $1 billion property and specialty reinsurance business.

Prior to Validus, Ward was an executive vice president at Axis Specialty Ltd. from 2001 until 2005, where he built and ran portions of the worldwide treaty portfolio and served on the management board.

From 1992 to 2001, Mr. Ward held a variety of positions in insurance and reinsurance broking and underwriting.

Ward holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
