Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Names Healthcare, Construction Leaders

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance named leadership for its healthcare professional liability and construction businesses, announcing that Leo J. Carroll and William B. Sullivan have joined the firm.

In Thursday’s statement, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty said that Carroll will take the title senior Vice President, Healthcare Professional Liability and will be based in New York. Sullivan will be Vice President, Construction Casualty, working out of the Boston office.

Carroll was previously Senior Vice President and Head of Healthcare Professional Liability at Zurich North America.

Carroll has spent nearly his entire 23 year insurance career devoted to the healthcare segment. Prior to serving as Senior Vice President of five regional underwriting offices, he was Vice President of the Healthcare Large Account Segment & Underwriting Zone Leader and, before that, Regional Vice President for production underwriting at Zurich North America.

He was also previously Healthcare Underwriter and Senior Claim Analyst at AIG.

Sullivan was most recently Assistant Vice President, Construction Wrap-up and Strategic Business Development, at The Hartford Financial Services Group, responsible for managing all aspects of wrap-up business. Prior to that, he was Vice President, Construction, and established The Hartford’s formal construction operation.

He was also previously Assistant Vice President, Specialty Construction, and Manager of National Accounts at The Hartford Financial Services Group, and Underwriting Supervisor at Liberty Mutual.
