American Modern Launches Claims Management and Training Firm

August 5, 2013

American Modern, a provider of specialty property and casualty insurance products, announced the launch of a new claims management and hands-on claims training firm, Specialty Insurance Services Corporation.

The new firm, a subsidiary of American Modern, is offering property/casualty claims adjusting and training services to companies across all segments of the insurance industry, including retail and wholesale brokerage firms, MGAs and MGUs, insurance companies and insurance-related services.

“SIS is built on the claims expertise of American Modern, which has insured and managed claims for specialty property and recreational products for the past 45 years,” said Manny Rios, president and CEO of American Modern, in a statement.

He noted that hands-on training is offered in a 32,000 square-foot facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A video made available to the media shows training that begins in a classroom area, then moving to hands-on areas, where damage scenarios are recreated—a tree falling onto a roof, for example. The trainees then do the repairs themselves, learning all the parts and pieces that need to be replaced in situations they will likely face in the field.

In addition to property claims training on a site-built house and a mobile home, students can get motorcycle, watercraft boat, ATV and other specialty vehicle claims training in real-world repair shop settings, the video reveals.

SIS has a national network of experienced claims adjusters in 170 locations nationwide.

SIS claims management will provide first- and third-party specialty claims services, including complete claims administration, desk and field adjusting, catastrophic claims management, and support to insurance providers and their policyholders.
