Extreme Weather: Building Resilience for Rising Risks

The insurance industry has a responsibility to assume a “leadership role in creating and promoting resilience as the first line of defense” against natural disasters, an industry leader said recently.

NAMIC President and CEO Charles Chamness made the assertion during the Extreme Weather panel at the Joint Industry Forum 2020 in January. Chamness moderated a panel of industry experts, following an introduction to the topic by Phil Klotzbach, research scientist in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University.
