The days of VC funds and strategic investors throwing money at InsurTechs may be numbered, an InsurTech executive warned fellow startup leaders late last year during a presentation at an InsurTech meetup in New York.

Insurtechweek: NYC was presented by Innovation Underwriters, an insurance collaborative with ties to Cambridge Innovation Center.“I feel like we’re at this point where we’ve been in a bull market for a long time,” said Mitchell Doust, executive vice president of the Americas at Cover Genius. “It wouldn’t surprise me if, in the next couple of years, the funding environment for InsurTech businesses becomes quite tight,” he said during the first session of insurtechweek: NYC in November.
