Agriculture, Energy Drive Commercial Premium Growth

“Riding an energy boom, an agricultural boom and a natural resources boom,” North Dakota had the biggest jump in commercial lines direct premiums written over the period 2006-2011, according to Robert Hartwig, president of the Insurance Information Institute.

The Dakotas showed the most growth in direct written premiums for commercial lines to the five years ended 2011, according to data presented by I.I.I. President Robert Hartwig late last year.
