XL Catlin brought on two new executives from Chubb and CNA to help support continued expansion of its inland marine field operations. JLT Specialty USA made a number of key appointments and promotions for its Aerospace practice in North America.

XL Catlin hired two executives as part of a continued expansion of its inland marine field operations.

Russell Crooks was brought on as vice president, National Inland Marine Director, based in San Francisco. Maria Klein has been hired as a senior underwriter in Baltimore.

Crooks has more than 20 years of inland marine underwriting and business development experience, most recently as Chubb’s regional inland marine practice leader and underwriter.

In his new role, Crooks will liaise with brokers and clients in the western United States to handle inland marine insurance needs including motor truck cargo, builder’s risk, contractor’s equipment and logistics inland marine products, among others.

Klien joins XL Catlin with more than 25 years of marine insurance experience in all lines of marine coverages, inland, hull and P&I, marine liabilities and cargo. Before XL Catlin, she was an ocean cargo underwriter at CNA Marine, and has prior experience with companies including MOAC and Allianz/Fireman’s Fund.

JLT Specialty USA, part of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc., made key appointments for its Aerospace practice in North America.

They are:

  • Phil Gingell, as executive chairman. He most recently was president of JLT’s Aerospace Practice in North America, based out of Chicago.
  • Jason Klevens, part of JLT Specialty since May 201, will take over Gingell’s previous position and remain based in Atlanta.
  • Steve Lloyd was named CEO the Aerospace practice, and will move from London to Chicago to take on the position. With JLT since 2013, he was most recently a partner and member of the Executive Committee for JLT Aerospace in London. Previously, he was an executive managing director, Airline Practice Leader and a member of the Aviation and Aerospace Practice Executive and Management Group at Marsh.
  • Steve Alexandris joined JLT as deputy chief executive officer its Aerospace practice. Most recently, he was regional executive, Aerospace – Americas at AIG, and he was a member of the Aviation Global Executive Committee. He’ll be based in Atlanta.
