RenaissanceRe’s chief financial officer/chief operating officer is retiring, and the Bermuda insurer/reinsurer has chosen his replacement.

RenaissanceRe_color_300dpiJeffrey Kelly is retiring on Sept. 15, and Robert Qutub will replace him as CFO as of Aug. 8. Kelly plans to stay on as chief operating officer until his retirement date, after which he’ll serve as an advisor to the company.

Qutub, who will also have the title of executive vice president, was most recently CFO and treasurer for MSCI, where he managed SEC reporting, treasury, investor relations, financial planning and internal controls, among other responsibilities. He is also a Bank of America veteran, where he held various financial-related executive roles.

AXIS Capital Holdings appointed Mark Paccione as executive vice president of Commercial Management Solutions at its AXIS Insurance arm.

CMS focuses on commercial public and private D&O, employment practices, fiduciary liability and crime products. Paccione is based in New York and reports to John Van Decker, president, North American Professional Lines for AXIS Insurance.

Previously, Paccione was a senior vice president for AXIS Insurance, leading its northeast region for CMS. He also has previous management experience from Everest Re and Chubb.

Specialist insurer Markel International appointed Andy Lane as senior underwriter in its newly-created marine equipment business (part of Markel’s marine, energy and property division).

Markel Logo B&WLane, a 20-year insurance industry veteran, was most recently class underwriter for marine equipment at Skuld. Before that, he has also held senior underwriting positions at Tokio Marine, CNA and RSA.

Lane will join underwriter David Stallard in the marine equipment arm; Stallard started his role earlier in the year. They will focus on marine and subsea equipment and also provide cover for inland contractor’s plant and cargo.

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, a division of Allianz Group, named Adam Posner as senior underwriter for Terrorism & Political Violence Insurance.allianz_flagge2

Posner was most recently at XL Catlin in London, where he was a terrorism underwriter who managed relations with key brokers, and served as the point of contact for global terrorism inquiries. Additionally, he handled daily risk analysis. Previously at XL Catlin, he focused on catastrophe modeling assessment for XL Catlin, for areas including New York and Chicago.

In his new role, Posner will report to Marcos Garcia Norris, XL Catlin’s regional practice group leader for Crisis Management in North America. He will be based in New York.
