Aspen Re hired on a RenaissanceRe executive as its new head of portfolio analytics.

Douglas De Couto will be based in Bermuda and report to Alan Calder, head of group catastrophe risk management.

DeCouto joined RenaissanceRe in 2006 and was most recently assistant vice president, corporate risk, a job where he led a team responsible for proprietary, mostly cat-focused, model data.

The Navigators Group said it has made two executive changes in its international insurance division designed to better facilitate profitable growth.

Carl Bach III is now managing director of Navigators Underwriting Agency Ltd. and president of London Market Insurance, a promotion from his current position as president of Navigators Pro, the specialty insurance holding company’s international management and professional liability insurance division. Bach has been with Navigators since 2009 and will report to Paul Hennessy, president of international insurance.

Colin Sprott has been promoted to chief underwriting officer of international insurance and Active Underwriter of Lloyd’s Syndicate 1221. He’s been with Navigators since 2013 and was previously president of global marine. He’ll also report to Hennessy, as well as Clay Bassett, Jr., the Navigators Group chief underwriting officer.

Ironshore has brought in Zurich executive as its new executive vice president and chief underwriting officer for its specialty casualty unit.

Kevin Whitehead’s responsibilities will include setting underwriting guidelines and strategies for existing and new product lines for specialty casualty nationally. He’ll be based in New York and report to Tim McAuliffe, president of Ironshore Specialty Casualty.

Whitehead was most recently at Zurich, where he, in part, served as senior vice president and head of excess casualty for seven years. He has more than 25 years’ experience in underwriting and managing specialty lines for insurance companies, and is also a veteran of Chubb Insurance Company and AIG.

AEGIS London has a new managing director – David Croom-Johnson.

Croom-Johnson replaces Stuart Davies, who resigned in May. He has been Syndicate 1225’s active underwriter since 2007.

Additionally, AEGIS London announced other management-related promotions:

  • John Chambers is in the new role of director of underwriting, after serving as deputy active underwriter and a member of AEGIS London’s team since 2000.
  • Alex Powell is new active underwriter, promoted from head of non-marine property.
  • Matthew Yeldham is the new deputy active underwriter, but will continue as head of casualty.
  • Executives promoted Paul Kedney to the job as actuarial and risk director. He was previously chief actuary.
  • New appointments are pending the approval of the Prudential Regulatory Authority and Lloyds.

allianz_flagge2Allianz’s Commercial, a division of Allianz Insurance, has promoted Paul Higham to property account manager.

His new job involves managing and developing the commercial property account, as well as focusing on improving segmentation and pricing capability within the competitive mid-corporate sector.

Higham has been with Allianz Commercial since 2002 and has held positions including property/casualty underwriter, business developer, senior casualty underwriter and, most recently, SME underwriting manager.

Higham moved up the corporate ladder in the wake of Cathrine Dickson’s promotion to head of property/casualty and Stuart Toal’s appointment as casualty account manager earlier this year.
